Tata Realty & Infrastructure Appoints Gaurav Jain as New MD & CEO, Effective October 1, 2026
Leadership Transition at Tata Realty
Tata Realty & Infrastructure Ltd (TRIL), the real estate and infrastructure arm of the Tata Group, has announced the appointment of Gaurav Jain as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2026.
Jain's Background and Career
Jain has over 23 years of experience across residential and commercial real estate and has held leadership positions at Birla Estates, Godrej Properties, Mahindra Lifespace Developers and Unitech Group. His experience spans business growth, strategic planning, operations, sales and marketing, institution building and P&L management.
Jain joins the Tata companies after more than a decade with Birla Estates, where he has most recently served as Deputy CEO. He joined Birla Estates in 2016 as a founding member and spent more than seven years as Chief Operating Officer and National P&L Head, leading the residential and commercial portfolio, P&L management and business development across Mumbai, NCR, Bengaluru and Pune.
Jain completed the Senior Executive Leadership Program in General Management at Harvard Business School Executive Education in 2024 and holds a PGDBM from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, completed between 2004 and 2006.
Sanjay Dutt's Tenure
Jain will succeed Sanjay Dutt, who joined TRIL in 2018 as MD and CEO. During his tenure, the company expanded its operations across 17 cities and delivered more than 25 projects. Dutt's departure marks the end of a leadership phase that saw TRIL strengthen its presence across multiple real estate segments, including residential, commercial, infrastructure and hospitality.
Focus for the New Leadership
In his new role, Jain will lead TRIL's real estate business as the company seeks to build on its pan-India presence and focus on high-quality, sustainable and future-ready urban development.
Praveer Sinha, chairman, Tata Realty & Infrastructure, said he brings strong real estate expertise across residential and commercial segments, along with a proven track record of building and scaling businesses. "As Tata Realty focuses on scale, portfolio strength and high-potential markets, his experience will be key to driving sustained growth while guided by the Tata Group's philosophy of Leadership with Trust and its enduring values, which have long served as the foundation for responsible and purpose-driven growth," Sinha added.
